S&P 500 Futures and Stocks Opening Higher on Last Trading Day of 2018

Futures are higher this morning, with many investors and traders taking the day off ahead of the New Year’s holiday. S&P 500 Futures are fading from session highs (+1%) earlier.

With the economic and earnings calendar’s blank, geopolitics could call the tune for trading again.

Financial media was reporting the President held a “very good call” with China’s President Xi Jinping on Saturday, discussing trade and  “progress” was being made. Media outlets said, Xi hoped the negotiating teams could negotiate an agreement that was mutually beneficial.

Trading was mixed in Europe, with the London FTSE off 0.21% and the Paris CAC higher this morning, (+/- 1%). The DAX was closed. – Source Investing.com
