Investors Business Daily – 1. “Market Trend”
Checking the market trend once a week protects investors, and helps them invest when the environment is more friendly. While the markets have been in a confirmed uptrend at the start of 2023, daily issues are mounting as we can see below.
“Dow Jones futures fell solidly Thursday morning, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures.
The stock market rally reversed lower Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones undercutting or testing key levels, amid surprisingly weak economic data and hawkish Fed officials.
Some leading stocks struggled, such as Celsius (CELH), while others pulled back modestly with a few moving higher.” – IBD
Alcoa reported earnings after the close. The aluminum giant reported an in-line quarterly loss while sales came up short. AA stock fell solidly in extended trade. Shares have surged since late September, recently retaking their 200-day line.
Investors Business Daily – 2. Leading Industries – 3. Strong Companies
In November we covered what other writers at Investors Business Daily were discussing.
Boeing (BA) had its Investors Day, where management discussed changes that impacted 8 divisions. Volume followed as the stock started to break a multi-year downtrend. That volume signaled “institutions” were accumulating shares.
We followed and wrote several articles covering our reasoning. The most recent here. (link).
Investors Business Daily – 4. Protect Profits
We are currently out of Boeing, as the stock appears to be consolidating, for a second time, after more than 60 points in gains. We were protecting profits as the markets also appear to be digesting the 6.5% gain since the start of the year.
Stay tuned. We’ll cover more on this in future articles.
