Apple (AAPL) and Twitter (TWTR) Stock/Option Setups and Trades for Friday
Apple (AAPL) and Twitter (TWTR) have been in the news lately, with the iPhone maker announcing new models to replace the XR and a change in LCD to OLED screens. Twitter, on the other hand, received an upgrade from BofA yesterday. Both stocks are exhibiting tight price action just below overhead resistance.
Apple (AAPL)
The buzz at CES this year is that Apple plans to unveil three new iPhone models later this year, including a successor to the XR.
Note the pivots on Apple 60 minute time-frame. RSI is rising as the stock glides along its rising 20ema, squeezing into overhead resistance. Price action has stalled or consolidated along the 154.23 pivot zone that printed on December 31. A break higher would earn targets of 157.00 and 158.85 for short-term traders.
Twitter (TWTR)
Twitter (TWTR) is printing a very similar picture. RSI muscle is keeping the stock price elevated and above its ascending 20ema. the pivot low at 31.08 and pivot high at 33.50 have contained price action.
Friday trading aside, we are anticipating that these two stocks might make a move. A break above the recent pivots outlined above would trigger a long day trade in either candidate. We’ll use options and/or common to trade the anticipated breakouts.
Futures are turning higher from early session lows.
Additional setups in AMD, GE, FB, MSFT, CGC, NFLX, TSLA, and NVDA are also worth considering. We’ll cover those during the trading day as we ease into the Opening Range.
Be sure to use strict rules when its time to sell stocks; even the best stocks falter, especially when the general market comes under pressure. The drawdown that hit in October ~ December is clear evidence of that. Nvidia, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, and Alphabet flashed warning signs as they began to show weakness in December. What were the sell signals?
Tune in today as we trade AAPL TWTR and others during the trading day by way of our daily LIVESTREAM broadcast during market hours. Watch, listen and trade from 9:20 AM to 4:15 PM Monday through Friday.
Happy Trading,
Vinny
